The Rhaetian Railroad (RhB) in Switzerland is fortunate that the first steam locomotive – for this 130-year-old firm – the RHÆTIA from 1889 still exists. The RHÆTIA could finally be experienced in 2014 pulling special trains. Since then the locomotive has been in storage due to numerous "age-related ailments" and is waiting for extensive restoration. For the first time in the history of the RhB, a modern class Ge 4/4 II locomotive has been advertising since November 9, 2018 for an old historic locomotive. Road number Ge 4/4 II 616 is thus advertising all over the canton of Grisons "Our No. 1 needs CASH". Of course, LGB is also participating in this project.
The model of road number Ge 4/4 II 616 "KOHLE" / "CASH" from LGB is being produced in a one-time run in 2019 and LGB is donating 50.00 Euros per locomotive sold for the restoration of the RHÆTIA. The model comes from the factory with an mfx/DCC digital decoder and has numerous light and sound functions that can be used in digital operation. A model that should be on every LGB layout. Additional information about the donation project can be found at www.rhaetia1.ch.
There is more than just a wonderful LGB model waiting for you. No, you can also take part in our big Photo Contest for the CASH locomotive. Valuable, especially fascinating prizes are waiting for the winners. Go on the locomotive safari: Take a picture of the CASH locomotive on its route and send it in to us.
